Oxidation of Toluene by Ozone over Surface-Modified γ-Al2O3: Effect of Ag Addition

In this study, the ability of ozone to oxidise toluene present in low levels into CO and CO2 was studied. The catalytic ozonation carried out a micro-fixed bed reactor. oxidation done two steps: adsorption on catalyst followed by sequential desorption. Toluene breakdown at temperature atmospheric pressure achieved using γ-Al2O3 supported transition metal oxides impregnated with reduced noble metal. Ag–CoOx/γ-Al2O3 efficiently oxidised transformed products (52.4% COx yield). This has high surface area, more acidic sites, lattice oxygens for better oxidation. addition Ag CoOx/γ-Al2O3 improved surface, resulting product yield, selectivity, carbon balance.
